National Floral Design Day is an annual celebration of the beauty of flowers and the talented people who work with them every day.  Although largely recognized within the floral community, we thought we would take this opportunity to introduce you to one of our favorite designers, Kaitlin. If you have received a bouquet or floral arrangement from Nanz and Kraft Florists over the last couple of years, chances are excellent that Kate had something to do with it.

Kate has worked at Nanz & Kraft Florists for two years. She moved to our team at the urging of her floral design mentor, who loved the environment here so much that she encouraged Kate to join her.  “It turned out to be a great opportunity for me, and I’ve grown so much as a designer here”, she says.
Kaitlin has a lot of flowers she enjoys designing – but prefers those that evoke a feeling of movement. “I love flowers that cascade down, like green viburnum or hanging amaranthus; I also like to incorporate trailing greenery, like ivy or ferns.”

Kaitlin especially enjoys designing for weddings. “For a rooftop wedding at the Frazier History Museum, I decorated a huge archway that the groom had built. It was covered in flowers and greenery, and it remains one of my favorite projects.”, she says. But her true passion lies with the bride. “Generally, my favorite arrangement to design is the bridal bouquet. Each one is personal and unique to the bride. I love that.”Kaitlin says the best thing about her job is all the amazing people she has the opportunity to work with, both coworkers and clients. Once she leaves the shop, her family is very important to her. She enjoys visiting with her three nephews, and of course, taking care of her furry family – her dog, Daisy and cat, Pippin.
