Every floral tradition is unique, and we here at Nanz & Kraft Florists have seen them all, from the classic gestures to the uniquely personal customs. This September 9 is Grandparents Day, a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our family traditions, as well as our floral ones.

Much of what makes a floral exchange a tradition has to do with the specific flowers involved. Many of our most cherished blooms have meanings built in that have developed over time: yellow roses for friendship, pink ones for love and affection, red for passion. Our 1850 design is a good example of a traditional arrangement that conveys a range of loving feelings, making it the perfect offering for a deep and abiding relationship.

We encourage you to embrace the floral traditions that help connect us to each other, whether it’s sending a bouquet at the arrival of a baby or offering bamboo and sunflowers to welcome a friend into their new home. There are so many ways to preserve a sense of connection with the past; giving flowers is a big one.
